Johnson Creek Fun Run

Experience Nature in the City with Bike, Talk and Run Events

Interested in exploring Johnson Creek? Whether you’re a bike enthusiast, gardener, or even a self-proclaimed micro-brew expert, Johnson Creek Days has an event that is just your style. This series of free activities encourages all kinds of audiences to join the Johnson Creek community. Groups will learn about Johnson Creek restoration efforts and explore its beauty.

Friday, September 20

Science Talk – 6:00pm-8:00pm Take a virtual tour of the Johnson Creek Watershed led by JCWC Restoration Coordinator Robin Jenkinson at 4th Street Brewery (77 NE 4th St, Gresham).

Saturday, September 21

Fun Run – 9:00am Four mile loop beginning at Pacesetters (4203 SE Woodstock) – all abilities welcome (maps provided). Discover new running paths and learn about Johnson Creek and its improvement projects.

Children’s Discovery Carnival – 1:00pm-4:00pm Drop by Lents Park (SE 92nd and Steele) anytime to enjoy music, hands-on nature crafts, displays and games for children 12 and under.

Sunday, September 22

Bicycle Bonanza – 9:00am-11:00am Meet at JCWC Headquarters (1900 SE Milport Rd., Milwaukie) and then ride out to Cartlandia at SE 82nd Ave., stopping at several restoration projects along the way.  

Weed Walk– 1:00pm-3:00pm Many weeds are used for agricultural and medicinal purposes. Learn more at this free educational event at Pleasant Valley Elementary (17625 SE Foster Rd.) led by herbalist Randi Embree.

Johnson Creek is an urban stream with salmon and trout that begins in the farmlands of Boring, Oregon and flows through Gresham, Damascus, and Portland until it empties into the Willamette River in Milwaukie. The Johnson Creek Watershed’s mission is to promote restoration and stewardship of a healthy Johnson Creek Watershed through sound science and community engagement.
