Growing Solar in Clackamas County

Growing Solar Clackamas County is a community-based, volunteer-driven solar initiative to reduce your power bill.

Residents and small businesses can participate in this community-led program for installing quality Oregon-made solar electric and solar hot water systems at affordable one-time prices.

Growing Solar Clackamas County is a citizen-run group, with support from Oregon State University Extension Service, Clackamas County Office of Sustainability, and Solar Oregon (an Oregon non-profit organization). The purpose of the group is to inform citizens about the benefits of converting to solar electricity and hot water, while taking advantage of low pricing through group bulk purchasing, tax incentives, and leasing options.

The steering committee has scheduled a number of “early bird” workshops throughout the county to help citizens learn more about Solar Energy and financing as follows (additional workshops will be offered in March & April):

  • February 1 – Beavercreek Telephone Company, 6:00 pm
  • February 7 – Estacada Library, 6:00 pm
  • February 9 – Wilsonville Library, 6:00 pm
  • February 12 – TBA (Happy Valley/Milwaukie vicinity)
  • February 15 – Canby Events Center & Fairgrounds, 6:00 pm

Please see the website at www.growingsolar.org to register for a workshop.

Note this program with special rates is a one-time limited offer. Deadlines are:

  • EARLY BIRD SAVINGS (additional savings for early committers)
    • February 19: Deadline to schedule a site assessment
    • February 29: Deadline to sign a purchase/lease contract *
  • SPECIAL ONE-TIME SAVINGS (committee negotiated savings)
    • April 15: Deadline to schedule a site assessment
    • May 15: Deadline to sign a purchase/lease contract *

*Must have a site assessment before a contract can be signed. However, attendance at a workshop is optional.

Growing Solar: “We are a team of homeowners from Clackamas County that has been working the past few months to develop a group purchase opportunity in solar energy. Not only for ourselves, but for any interested community members. We have pre-selected two contractors who are offering great deals as well as lined up a number of different workshops for us to explore solar power together. If you are interested in learning more about how to generate your own electricity or hot water with solar power, join our citizen led initiative for solar. There is no better time for this golden opportunity than now.”

(This is not a Clackamas County SWCD program, but it coincides with one of our interests: energy conservation!)
