Calling all Oak Enthusiasts! The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, in partnership with other local organizations, is hosting the first of several Oakscaping Workshops on Saturday, April 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. til noon at the Rose Villa Center in Milwaukie, Oregon. This workshop is open to pre-registered applicants who live within eligible north Clackamas County communities which include Oregon City,West Linn, Milwaukie, Jennings Lodge, Oak Grove, North Clackamas, Southgate, and Lake Oswego.

Interested parties must pre-register for this or future workshops. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for two hands-on, follow up workshops that will cover site preparation, weed control, planning and design, plant materials, tools, planting techniques, plant succession, long-term monitoring and maintenance.

Presenters include:

  • Nicole Ahr (Clackamas SWCD) + Mark G Wilson (KelipiCamas Group): Welcome + Overview of Landscaping with Oak Workshop series
  • Judy Bluehorse (KelipiCamas Group + PSU Indigenous Studies) and Ed Alverson (Lane County Parks): Pacific Northwest oak + prairie: A short history of interconnected cultures + habitats
  • Jonathan Soll (Metro Parks + Nature) + Ted Labbe (KelipiCamas Group): Willamette Valley + metro area oak woodlands, savannas and prairies – Existing Conditions + Restoration Goals
