Brendan grew up in Clackamas County before heading to Seattle Pacific University, where he earned a degree in ecology. He later completed a graduate certificate in forests and climate change from Oregon State University.
He discovered his passion for hands-on ecological restoration while serving in an AmeriCorps program in Seattle. After returning to the Portland area, he joined Clackamas SWCD as a WeedWise Specialist in 2024. Brendan now focuses on controlling noxious weeds in the Sandy River Basin, working on both private properties and important public lands. He also helps coordinate two Cooperative Weed Management Areas, which he believes are key to large-scale, long-term restoration efforts.
Outside of work, Brendan enjoys exploring Mt. Hood, trying new food carts, training for half-marathons, and playing strategy board games with his wife.
