Emerald Ash Borer Training Session

Join the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Community Science Program

Requirements for Sign Up:

  • Must reside in Clackamas County
  • Must have an ash tree on your property. Not sure? Try iNaturalist or this guide made by OSU to identify your trees
  • Can commit to a 2.5 hour training
  • Can commit to servicing an EAB trap on your property every two weeks, May-September. This includes replacing the preserving liquid and observing your specimens.
  • Must be comfortable with handling certain chemicals (RV Antifreeze, ethyl alcohol, and Z-3 hexanol lures)

Participants at the training session will learn:

  • What the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is, where it came from, what is being done in Oregon
  • How to hang, monitor, and maintain an EAB trap (includes a live demonstration and practice)
  • An entry level entomology lesson to identify EAB from your traps and how to take samples. See real EAB specimens and their look-alikes!

This Workshop is Free, But Space is Limited

This program is FREE and all equipment will be provided at no charge to participants. There will be mini prizes at the end of the training.
