Repairing or replacing a septic system can be expensive. We can help.
Did you know that the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District offers a Septic Repair and Replacement Loan Program for eligible homeowners in Clackamas County? These loans are available with no interest to the borrower.
Finding out that your septic system has failed can be very stressful. Most septic systems are designed to last about 20 to 30 years under good conditions. As septic systems age, concrete and metal parts can wear out and break down. Over time, the soil in the drain field can also become clogged, causing the system to stop working properly.
Why Is This Program Important?
Old or failing septic systems can create health and water quality problems. This can affect people in both rural and urban areas. A leaking septic system can create unpleasant conditions for homeowners. In severe cases, homeowners may need to leave their homes until the septic system is repaired or replaced. A leak can be especially serious when a home is near a river or stream that provides drinking water, such as the Clackamas or Molalla rivers.
Failing septic systems are becoming a more common source of water pollution in Clackamas County. To help address this problem, the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District offers a loan program funded through the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s State Clean Water Revolving Fund.
