Registration is OPEN for our Fall Mud, Manure, and Pasture Management Workshop!
Livestock and pasture managers in the Willamette Valley face special challenges keeping their animals healthy and happy in this wet, fertile region. Join experts as they share sustainable strategies to support your horse or other livestock’s well-being while preserving a resilient, productive landscape.
If you have one of the many horse or cattle properties in our county, you most likely dreamed of a lush green pasture with healthy horses or cattle frolicking in sunshine. Somehow, however, you might have ended up with a weedy pasture with horses or cattle ankle, or even knee-deep, in mud. If this sounds like your situation, this workshop is for you!

Learn from the Experts!
Participants in our Fall Mud, Manure, and Pasture Management Workshop will learn about:
- Weed control, pasture health and renovation
- Animal health, mud issues, and manure management
- Hay production – New this fall, we have added a hay producer to the speaker lineup!
The workshops begins at 8:30 with a field trip to a horse property.
This field trip requires walking over uneven ground. If you are unable to safely walk in a typical pasture, please contact us to see if there is a reasonable accommodation we may make to help. If you prefer, you may choose instead to join us for the in-class portion of the workshop only.
The second part of the day will take place at the District office to learn from speakers and to have lunch.
Speakers will dive deeper into soil and pasture health, teaching how to identify common weeds and how to renovate and maintain a healthy pasture. You will also learn about effective mud control, heavy-use areas, and manure management. Participants will have the opportunity to get advice for the perfect pasture grasses from a grass seed expert, and will also learn how to keep your horses healthy with advice from an equine vet.
