No-Till Drills Take Fall/Winter Break

A new no-till drill has been added to the District's Equipment Rental Program.

We have TWO no-till drills in the District’s Equipment Rental Program.

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District offers an Equipment Rental Program which makes a variety of agricultural equipment available at reasonable prices to Clackamas County residents. Now that the fall and winter rains have arrived, however, many pieces of equipment, including our two no-till drills, are in for the season. Mark your spring calendar to reserve equipment for the 2025 season!

This program was originally created to provide hard-to-find equipment to help farmers and land managers conserve soil and water. This equipment is typically not available through other rental agencies and is often too large an investment for farmers who may only use it once or twice a year. The Conservation District recognizes that our agricultural producers have the ability to be our very best conservationists by keeping their land in production using good stewardship practices. Our Equipment Rental Program is one way we can help!

Our no-till drill is a popular rental item.

Equipment currently available includes:

A complete list of equipment, their specifications, and rental rates can be found below (updated July 2024).

Why Try No-Till Farming?

Why try no-till farming? To save your soil! Erosion is significantly reduced using a no-till implement. You will also save time and fuel. Over time you will see improvements in nutrient cycling, soil moisture, and resiliency in the face of drought.

What you won’t see by looking at your field is that no-till farming allows you to grow crops with minimal disturbance to your fields and the soil organisms that call them home. This builds healthier soil while reducing money spent on fuel and labor. We call that a win-win!
