We are pleased to welcome Monte Mattsson as the newest member of the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District. Mattsson joined the District as a new WeedWise Specialist in early March 2023. He will be working on controlling, surveying, and mapping invasive species. He will also be conducting outreach to landowners.
In addition to being a WeedWise Specialist, Mattson will also take over as the District’s CRISP Coordinator. This position oversees the coordination of our partners to manage invasive weeds through the Clackamas River Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP).
Mattsson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the District. Prior to joining the WeedWise program, he worked as Research Faculty with Oregon State University. He was also an invasive species biologist for the City of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services. This role included managing priority weeds with Portland’s Early Detection Rapid Response Program.
Not only does Mattsson have a wealth of experience managing invasive plants, he also has a keen eye as a naturalist. We are excited to see how his experience and skills will positively impact conditions along the Clackamas River.
Please help us welcome Monte!
