This year’s Clackamas County Fair is themed “Five Days of Fun,” and the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District is geared up to engage children of all ages! Join us this week, August 15 – 19, at the Clackamas Event Center in Canby. We’re located on the main lawn, right by the Oregon Dairy Women’s ice cream booth.
New to our booth this year is our Soil Tunnel! Take a tour around, above, and inside to learn about soil health and the many roles soil plays in our environment and community.
We’ll also have an eye-opening display, as well as some fascinating demonstrations, on cover crops – one of the best ways you can care for your soil, whether your a seasoned agricultural professional or a home gardener.
Visitors to Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District booth can also learn about:
- Invasive weed management
- Mud and manure management
- Oak habitat conservation and restoration
- Beneficial insects for home gardeners and commercial growers
- Equipment rental program
The Clackamas County Fair is a an event we look forward to every year here at the District. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with County residents who might not know about our programs and resources. Many of our staff and elected board members have had long and deep ties to the Fair – from participating in 4-H to serving on the Fair Board! It’s a tradition we’re happy to continue and we hope you’ll come by and meet our knowledgeable and friendly staff!
Update after the Fair
We had a wonderful time. This year we had a new challenge to deal with: our displays were so interesting that people did not want to leave! We had many great conversations with people of all ages.
We hope you enjoy the photos below. See you next year at the Clackamas County Fair!
