This year’s Clackamas County Fair is themed “Spectacular Fun for Everyone,” and the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District is geared up to engage children of all ages! Join us next week, August 16 – 21, at the Clackamas Event Center in Canby. We’re located on the main lawn, right by the Oregon Dairy Women’s ice cream booth.
Our tent this year will be covered with informative banners describing many of the FREE technical services the District provides to Clackamas County residents, including:
- Invasive weed management
- Mud and manure management
- Oak habitat conservation and restoration
- Beneficial insects for home gardeners and commercial growers
- Equipment rental program
Inside, our tent space will be transformed into a conservation-themed arcade. Come play plinko, spin the giant wheel, take your picture as a farmer or tractor driver, and create watershed art with stamps and markers. We’ll have lots of prizes and everyone will come away a little bit wiser about how to conserve our shared natural resources here in Clackamas County. Our friendly staff will be on hand to answer questions and share resources (as well as enjoy all the sights and flavors the Fair has to offer)!
The County Fair is a an event we look forward to every year here at the District. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with County residents who might not know about our programs and resources. Many of our elected board members have had long and deep ties to the Fair – from participating in 4-H to serving on the Fair Board! It’s a tradition we’re happy to continue and we hope you’ll come by and meet us!

Many thanks to Sanctuary Video, Production & Design and Clackamas County, Oregon for their efforts documenting our work.
