We are happy to announce that Sarah Hamilton has recently joined the Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District staff. Sarah takes on several new roles within the District. She is our new WeedWise Program Specialist as well as the new Coordinator for both the 4-County Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) and the Columbia Gorge CWMA.
As the WeedWise Program Specialist, Sarah will support and coordinate District weed management and removal projects in Clackamas County. In her position as CWMA Coordinator, she will provide outreach for partner groups and manage their efforts to share resources and effectively and efficiently control high priority weeds. “I love working with invasive weeds,” Sarah notes. “I’m happy knowing that I’m having a positive impact on an ecosystem.”
A native Oregonian, Sarah has an extensive environmental and ecological background. She most recently worked as a restoration crew leader with Sound Native Plants. She has worked with the Forest Service and Oregon State University on a variety of projects involving wetlands, forests, meadows and riparian areas. Sarah has a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science from Oregon State University and an Associate Degree in Horticulture from Clackamas Community College.
Sarah ties her love of nature and the great outdoors to her grandfather, who spent time taking her camping and taught her about native plants. She continues to enjoy camping and hiking and is also an avid gardener and artist.
