Office Closed for MLK Day Holiday

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District office will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 8:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Board of Directors – Regular Meeting (Rescheduled)

The Clackamas SWCD Board of Directors will hold their regular monthly meeting at the Conservation Resource Center in Beavercreek, OR. The Board will meet to discuss district business and approve financial transactions. The public is welcome to attend in person or via conference call and public comment is welcome.

The regular monthly meeting is typically held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month as a virtual and in-person meeting. This month, the meeting will be held on the 4th Tuesday to accommodate staff and Board participation at the annual CONNECT conference. The Board will meet to discuss district business and approve financial transactions. The public is welcome to attend via conference call and public comment is welcome.

This free gathering of the Dry Farming Collaborative will meet on January 18, 202 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District office locate in Beavercreek, Oregon. Postponed -15th Annual Pull Together Weed Symposium

Please note: This event has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The 4-County Cooperative Weed Management Area is pleased to host their 15th Annual Pull Together.

Registration for the Pull Together annual weed symposium is now open.

The event will be in-person only, on January 17th, 2024. Come out and join us at McMenamins Kennedy School for a fun and informative time. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and see old friends working on invasive species and restoration work throughout our region. Join us on this special day to learn about post-wildfire responses, quagga mussels in the Columbia drainage, regional networks for flowering rush, the Pesticide Information Center OnLine (PICOL), strategies for talking about pesticides, climate adaptivity and invasiveness, and all things 4-County CWMA!

Staying Above the Water: Controlling Mud and Manure on the Farm

Join us on Friday, January 5, 2024 for a free First Friday Workshop offered by Marion Soil and Water Conservation District. Registration is required for this workshop .

Suzi Cloutier, Conservation Specialist with Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, will discuss track systems, Heavy Use Areas, pasture rotation and other ways to minimize mud associated with livestock. She will also address the poop problem and how to turn this detriment into a compost dream.

In 1998, Cloutier and her husband founded Zeb’s Wish, an equine rescue and sanctuary for elder, abandoned, and special needs horses, mules, and donkeys. She has deep ties in her community to people who keep livestock. Her work with Clackamas SWCD puts her in contact with many local farmers, horse owners, and land managers. Cloutier says, “We can all do the things that we are passionate about and still be great land stewards.”

Office Closure Due to Planned Power Outage

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District Conservation Resource Center will be closed all day on Monday, December 11, 2023 for a planned power outage. Due to work being undertaken nearby by PGE, the District office, as well as the offices of our federal partners, the Natural Resource Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency, will be closed due to lack of electricity.

Some staff will continue to work remotely, but office phones will not be forwarded.

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 8:00 a.m.
