It’s our 50th Anniversary!

We’re Celebrating 50 Years of Conservation!

Save the Date! On Saturday, August 3rd, we’re bringing our staff, partners, and neighbors together to celebrate our 50th Anniversary! It’s a huge achievement and one that has had a positive impact on all of our lives here in Clackamas County.

If you enjoy clean drinking water, local agriculture and farmers markets, any of our many local rivers and streams, or wildlife and natural habitat, then you’ve benefited directly from the work of the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District. If so, why don’t you bring your family and friends out to our permanent home in Beavercreek, Oregon and help us celebrate?

What to Expect at our 50th Anniversary Celebration

Between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., children and adults alike can enjoy:

Take a journey inside Claudia, the giant Chinook salmon!

For the last fifty years, the District has grown and changed with the conservation landscape in Clackamas County. Today we offer a wide variety of services in a voluntary and non-regulatory manner. Take a look at what we do:

Our WeedWise Department actively manages priority invasive weeds from remote destinations in the Mt Hood National Forest and to the rural and urban areas of Clackamas County. We assist Clackamas residents to protect their property and preserve our natural areas from damaging invasive weeds.

Our Conservation Planning Department offers technical assistance to landowners and managers on a wide variety of topics, including mud and manure management, pasture management, erosion control and runoff management, irrigation efficiency, streamside restoration, pollinator habitat, Oregon white oak habitat, soil health, etc.

For our urban residents, we support the Backyard Habitat Certification Program.

Our Conservation Investments Program offers loans for septic system repair or replacement, as well as loans for the implementation of conservation practices through a Clean Water State Revolving Fund agreement with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.

Our Education and Outreach Department provides publications, articles, workshops, displays, videos, and events centered around the conservation of natural resources. We offer an educational website and Facebook access. This program partners with neighboring SWCDs and other organizations to broaden our outreach and education efforts.

Our Land Management Department manages our 15-acre Conservation Resource Center where we are implementing our strategic plan to provide demonstration of conservation practices and offer educational opportunities for the community. They also manage our 315-acre Eagle Creek Community Forest property.
