2020 Scholarship Award Recipients Reflect District’s Values

Alexa Hayes will be a junior this fall studying animal science at Oregon State University. Alexa is a graduate of Clackamas High School where she was a Future Farmers of America (FFA) member for all four years. She received a number of awards while in FFA and worked on a farm for 3 summers in exchange for the farm housing her pigs.

Her career goal is to work with agricultural producers as an advisor/agribusiness representative. She most recently completed a small ruminant internship where she assisted with lambing and kidding and managed herd health.

Maja Rohling is studying horticulture at Clackamas Community College.

Maja Rohling will be a sophomore this fall studying horticulture at Clackamas Community College. She was a graduate of South Salem High School and has been a volunteer for the North Clackakmas Parks and Recreation District where she participated in habitat restoration, removal of invasive species, and planting.

Her career goal is to apply integrated pest management practices for nursery and agricultural field application. She would love to work with native plant nurseries and hopes to lead workshops on native habitat for pollinators.

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors is pleased to honor these young scholars with scholarships as they work to protect natural resources and support agriculture for a sustainable future. This is the ninth year the District has offered scholarships to local students.
