Calling all outdoor explorers! Here is a terrific opportunity to engage in citizen science to help us identify and report invasive weeds in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Your interest in exploring natural areas and observational skills make you an ideal candidate to participate in this FREE workshop on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Mt. Hood National Forest Headquarters.

The Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District’s WeedWise Program, in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Invasive Plant Council, Mt Hood National Forest, and the Columbia Gorge Cooperative Weed Management Area is pleased to announce a Citizen Science Identification, Early Detection and Reporting of Invasive Plants Workshop for the Mt. Hood National Forest. Anyone working or recreating in the Mt. Hood National Forest will want to attend.

This FREE training will teach you to identify priority weeds for the Mt. Hood National Forest and teach you how to report your findings.

Our workshop will be presented by Andrew Frasier of the Pacific Northwest Invasive Plant Council, a sponsor of the event. This training will cover some of the most important invasive weeds threatening the Mt Hood National Forest. This is only the third training of its kind to be held in Oregon and it builds upon a growing network of citizen scientists across multiple states in the Pacific Northwest. There will be many plant specimens on hand to help you familiarize yourself with some of our most damaging new invaders. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Re-certification credits for public and private pesticide applicators from Washington state will also be offered at this workshop. (Sorry no credits from Oregon this year.)
