Five Positions for Election to Board of Directors

Five positions on the Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Board of Directors are up for election this year. To be eligible to run for election to these positions you must reside within Clackamas County and be a registered voter. Additional requirements depend on the type of position that is open.

One position open is an at-large position, meaning you need only be a registered voter living within Clackamas County to qualify. The other four spots are zone director positions that require ownership or management of at least 10 acres of land with in Clackamas County.

Each position is for a term of four years, except the Zone 3 position which is open to fill the remainder of a term that expires in 2016.

The four zones up for election this year cover zones 1, 3, 4, and 5:

  • Zone 1 – Boring, Sandy, and the northeast part of Clackamas County
  • Zone 3 – Canby and the surrounding area
  • Zone 4 – Molalla and south Clackamas County area
  • Zone 5 – Estacada and central/east Clackamas County

Filing for office

The filing period is July 28, 2014 through August 26, 2014. The General Election is November 4, 2014.

Duties

Directors have four fundamental functions and duties within the context of the general powers described in Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 568.550:

  1. Provide for a chief executive.
  2. Provide clear direction.
  3. Hold people accountable.
  4. Champion issues.

Attend a Board meeting

We invite you to attend a Board of Directors meeting to see your local government in action. Board meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the District office located at 221 Molalla Ave. Suite 102, Oregon City, Oregon. All meetings of the Board of Directors are open to the public.
