Birding Event at the Beavercreek Farm

flicker

Northern flickers are woodpeckers that spend a lot of time on the ground!

One of the many resources we are cataloging on our historic farm in Beavercreek is wildlife. To aid us in determining the different species that might be sharing the farm with us, we’re looking to our local community of nature experts and aficionados. If you or someone you know is a beginning or experienced birder, we invite you to join Senior Conservationist, Clair Klock, for:

Birding on the Farm!

October 5, 2013

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Beavercreek Demonstration Farm

22055 S Beavercreek Road, Beavercreek, OR 97045

Some of the birds identified to date include:

  • 1 Great Blue Heron
  • 1 Northern Flicker
  • 2 Steller’s Jay
  • 4 Western Scrub-Jay
  • 30 Barn Swallow
  • 1 swallow (Tree or Violet-green.- skimmed the pond and was gone before ID)
  • 3 Black-capped Chickadee
  • 2 Red-breasted Nuthatch
  • 10 European Starling
  • 1 Spotted Towhee (heard only)
  • 3 Lesser Goldfinch

We need your help to keep building the list of birds we’ve observed at the farm, because part of managing our soil, water, and habitat resources is knowing what species may be impacted by our actions. That knowledge helps us choose what, when, and where we can implement actions on the land without significantly impacting natural resources.
